What to Expect Before Your Pet's Surgery
Before a scheduled surgery, we require a pre-surgical visit to make sure your pet is ready for anesthesia and the procedure ahead. This visit gives us time to check your pet’s health, answer your questions, and review what to expect.
Your pet’s pre-surgical visit may include:
A physical exam
Bloodwork
Required vaccine updates
An electrocardiogram to screen for possible health concerns
If your pet may need to stay overnight, we will discuss this with you during the pre-surgical visit. For convenience and continued care, we also offer medical boarding for surgical patients.
Preparing for Your Pet's Surgery Day
To help surgery day go smoothly, please follow these instructions before your pet’s scheduled procedure:
Do not offer food after 10 p.m. the night before surgery
Fresh water is okay until you leave for your appointment
Drop off your pet between 7:30–8 a.m.
Let us know about any medications your pet takes, including the last dose given
Tell us about any changes in your pet’s health
Review your cost estimate and complete required paperwork
Fill out the Surgical Consent Form before arriving
On the day of surgery, our team will perform a thorough exam and follow an anesthesia plan tailored to your pet’s needs.
