SkillBridge Program From Military Service to a Civilian Career in Veterinary Medicine

Pets R Family Veterinary Hospital is proud to be the first veterinary hospital in the country accepted into the U.S. Department of Defense SkillBridge Program. Through this program, service members from all branches of the military can gain hands-on civilian career training during the final months of their military service.

For participants interested in veterinary medicine, Pets R Family offers a structured training experience designed to help them build confidence, learn new skills, and explore a meaningful career path in the veterinary field.

Supporting Service Members During a Major Career Transition

Leaving the military and preparing for civilian employment is a significant life change. The SkillBridge Program helps make that transition more manageable by giving active-duty service members time to train, learn, and relocate before their official separation from the military.

At Pets R Family Veterinary Hospital, SkillBridge interns spend several months training alongside our team. During this time, they gain exposure to the daily flow of a veterinary hospital, learn how our team cares for patients and clients, and begin developing the practical skills needed for a future career in animal care.

A Pathway to a Permanent Career

SkillBridge interns who complete their training program at Pets R Family Veterinary Hospital are given the opportunity to interview for a permanent position with our company. While each participant’s path may look different, our goal is to provide a strong foundation, clear mentorship, and a supportive environment where motivated interns can grow.

As of June 2026, 14 graduates have completed the SkillBridge Program through Pets R Family Veterinary Hospital. We are proud of every graduate who has trained with us and excited to continue helping service members discover what is possible in veterinary medicine.

Proud to Serve Those Who Served

Pets R Family Veterinary Hospital is deeply thankful for the service and sacrifice of our military community. Through the SkillBridge Program, we are able to help service members move forward with purpose, confidence, and the possibility of a rewarding civilian career in veterinary care.
